IDSF World Youth Standard 2009
The existence of structure and organization in today's major International ballroom competitions are essential in creating a successful, well running event. At the high professional level, these competitions require a high level of funding and organization, so the competition can integrate many renowned dancers from all around the world and grant the spectators a truly indulgent experience. Yet sensitivity to organizational effectiveness is critical, we must not forget that at the end of the day, what really matters is if the competition was indeed effective and exciting for the audience. This year the 2009 IDSF World Youth Standard Championship was organized by the director of DanceSport club Spektrs, Aigars Svars as well as the IDSF and LDSF committee. The competition took place in the beautiful city of Riga, located in the heart of Latvia. Well over 60 couples attended this spectacular event, from many countries all around the world. The competition was held in a spacious sports venue, accommodating the needs of all the athletes present in addition to all the spectators. A World Championship is the top achievement for any sport. This determines the best couple in the world, in any particular age division. Team Diablo, being one of the biggest dance teams in the world, had many couples in attendance. Many of these athletes put in hours of gruelling physical practice just for this one specific event. But a great triumph causes pleasure and gives meaning to all the long hours spent training. In 31st place came Daniel Studenny & Sarah Maude Thibaudeau from Canada. This is a couple that shows great potential for the future. Another couple from Canada, Patrick Rucinski & Ella Nusenbaum placed 9th. This is an excellent result for them since they are still quite young and only in their first year competing in the Youth category. The highest success for Team Diablo that evening were Igor Kruglov & Olga Scherbina from Russia. They were crowned the new Youth Champions in this division. We would like to thank Aigars Svars for his hard work and determination in running such a beautiful and prestigious competition.  kruglovbn
